Trial on Davit Adeishvili’s Case Postponed

April 1, 2013

A trial on Davit Adeishvili’s case was scheduled at Telavi District Court but judge postponed it because witnesses did not appear to the court; Davit Adeishvili is brother of Zurab Adeishvili, former minister of justice of Georgia. According to Adeishvili’s lawyer Gocha Tediashvili, his client does not plead guilty and is against plea-agreement because he belives it is political revenge against him. As he says, he will win the process for sure and afterwards he will return to Georgia.

His brother Zurab Adeishvili is accused of the abuse of professional authority and is sought by law enforcement bodies.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, in 2005, when Davit Adeishvili was Kakheti region deputy governor he compelled owners of the Telavi market to give share to Jabrail Khangoshvili. The accused was sent to imprisonment in absentia.

Next trial on his case is scheduled on April 15.

Mikheil Mamalashvili, Kakheti
