Former Mayor of Poti Sentenced to Pre-Detention

Tbilisi.14.12.04.Media News. On December 14 Poti City Court sentenced Davit Kantaria, Former Mayor of Poti to pre-detention. The investigation charges Kantaria with abuse of power.

Poti Prosecutor’s Office interrogated Davit Kantaria on December 11 as a witness but detained him at once because of newly discovered circumstances.

Davit Kantaria is accused of purposeless spending of credit of 200 thousand in the years 2001-2003.

According to Roland Akhalaia, Prosecutor of Samegrelo and Zemo Svaneti the court sentenced Former Mayor to three months pre-detention. During the further investigation even more charges may be brought against Kantaria.
