It is Impossible to Meet “Kmara” Members Detained in Minsk

Tbilisi. 31.08.05. The Georgian Public Defender has involved himself in the case of Giorgi Kandelaki and Luka Tsuladze, members of “Kmara” who were detained in Minsk for violating border rules.

At the office of the Ombudsman , Media News has stated that Public Defender Sozar Subari is now in Sweden. However, he has daily phone contact with the Georgian Consuls for Ukraine and Russia, who currently are in Minsk for this matter.

On August 28, Kandelaki and Tsuladze were sentenced to 15 days of imprisonment by the Minsk Court.

At the Public Defender’s Office they declare that neither the Georgian Consuls nor any attorneys were able to meet the detainees.
