Member of the Monitoring Council Makes Complaints against the Minister of Justice

20/09/05 “Media News”- A member of the Monitoring Council Mariam Jishkariani, has brought a suit against the Minister of Justice Konstantine Kemularia. The reason for Jishkariani’s decision was the fact that Kemularia accused her of corruption and ill-performance of her duties during the incident with the prisoners who were moved to jail from hospital and back again.

“A member of the Monitoring Council has a right to give consultations to prisoners and prepare medical reports for the commission. I am an independent doctor and I am leading the rehabilitation centre “Empathy”. According to the agreement we have with the Ministry of Justice, the members of the centre have a right to enter the prison and examine prisoner’s health,”- said Jishkariani.

Jishkariani intends to sue against Kemularia before the European Court of Human Rights.
