Sulkhan Molashvili Receives Intermediate Decision from the European Court

Tbilisi, 19.03.2006, “Media News” – According to an intermediate decision of the European Court, because of Sulkhan Molashvili’s poor health, it is not allowed to send him to prison. Medical tests should be carried out in the Prison Hospital, where the former Head of the Chamber of Control, Sulkhan Molashvili is currently being housed.

One of the lawyers of the former Head of the Chamber of Control states that according to the decision of the court, the Georgian side also has to submit all the information it has regarding any medical tests and the living conditions of the detainee.

According to the lawyer Baratashvili, this is an intermediate decision of the European Court. Defenders of Molashvili demanded changing the preliminary detention to another lighter form of custody along with medical assistance. The results of the expert testimony, conducted by the European Court, showed that Molashvili has serious health problems. Among these are hepatitis C, heart ischemia and other diseases.

The Georgian State should respond to the decision before the 31st of March.
