Refugees Protest in Batumi

Batumi. 29.05.06. Media News. Today, refugees held a protest in front of the Council of Ministers building in Batumi. The refugees living in the ‘Kolkheti’ hotel in Makhinjauri refuse to leave the place and refuse the money offered by Kazakh investors.

The refugees demand they be paid according to the number of members in each family and refuse to take the 7,000 dollars offered to each family living in the hotel.

According to the refugees, the lists have not been properly worked out. The fact is that several families are registered as one on the list. The Kazakh investor announced the deadline for the refugees to accept their offer is tomorrow. After this, it is supposed the refugees will be forced to leave the hotel.

The refugees consider the offer from the investor to be illegal and refuse to leave the hotel.
