Organization “Reporters without Borders” launched the first International Online Free Expression Day on March 12. The freedom of word needs to be protected in on-line editions too. After the famous events of November 2007 it was evident that the opposition was abused on on-line forums. The photo or video materials of the November 7th crackdown gradually disappeared. Not too long ago, the newspaper “Basta” published an article about internet-censorship. We want to introduce our reader with the same article as well.

Samtskhe-Javakheti Regional TV Company “Lomsia” was another on the list of TV companies that were closed down in fallout of the Rose Revolution. Four years ago the regional population’s assessment to the fact was the following: “They have cut off the opportunity to have a diversity of opinions … the closing down of the “Lomsia” is sheer impudence.” “They have switched off our beacon of information and truth.”

Various highly respected international organizations have blamed the Georgian Government for suppressing the independent media sources. UN Human Rights Committee, International Committee to Protect Journalists, “Journalists without Borders” are all deeply concerned because the Georigan government has not investigated not one instance of harassment of journalists or instance of violence being used against the media. These organizations are calling upon the Georgian authority to protect their hard earned freedom of expression, as well as to be allow to maintain the independence of printed and other media sources.

Who Put Up Assembled Photos of Naked Editor of “Gia Boklomi”?! Ilia Chachibaia editor of the magazine “Gia Bocklomi” and leader of the Zugdidi office of the “Equalitarian Institute” noticed his necked photos assembled with woman’s body in the center of the town on 27 January. According to subscript on the posters Chachibaia offered his clients sexual service at reasonable prices. Editor of the magazine names Vakhtang Gabelia, official of the Constitutional Security Department’s (CSD) Zugdidi branch as an author and performer of the idea. Ilia Chachibaia demands law enforcers to start investigation and urges to human rights organizations to defend his rights.
